Symmetry-Adapted Algebraic Description of Stretching and Bending Vibrations of Ozone
نویسنده
چکیده
The vibrational excitations of ozone, including both bending and stretching vibrations, are studied in the framework of a symmetry-adapted algebraic approach. This method is based on the isomorphism between the U(2) algebra and the one-dimensional Morse oscillator, and the introduction of point group symmetry techniques. The use of symmetry-adapted interactions, which in the harmonic limit have a clear physical interpretation, makes it possible to systematically include higher order terms and anharmonicities. A least-square fit to all published experimental levels (up to ten quanta) of O3 and O3 yields a r.m.s. deviation of 2.5 and 1.0 cm, respectively.

Vibrational excitations of methane in a symmetry-adapted algebraic model
The stretching and bending vibrations of methane are studied in the framework of a symmetryadapted algebraic model. The model is based on the realization of the one-dimensional Morse potential in terms of a U(2) algebra. For the 45 observed energies we obtain a fit with a r.m.s. deviation of 1.11 cm which is an order of magnitude better than in any previous algebraic calculation. PACS numbers: ...
متن کاملApplication of a symmetry adapted algebraic model to the vibrational spectrum of methane
Recently, a symmetry-adapted version of the vibron model has been developed [14]. The aim of this work is to present the description of all stretching and bending vibrations of the methane molecule in the framework of such a model. In the present algebraic approach a U(2) algebra is associated with each relevant interatomic interaction. For the CH4 molecule we have four U(2) algebras correspond...
متن کاملارائه یک مدل براساس نظریه گروه به منظور برقراری ارتباط بین بردارهای جابجایی ارتعاشی اتمها و شکل اوربیتالهای اتم مرکزی در مولکولهای ABn(n=2-5)
Stretching and bending normal vibrations of AB2(C2v), AB3(D3h), AB4(D4h), and AB5(D3h) molecules are described by correlating the vibrational displacement vectors of the attached atoms with the standard representations of s, p and d atomic orbitals of the central atom in ABn(n=2-5) molecules. It is found that stretching and bending normal vibrations of simple molecules accord with probability...
متن کاملA pr 1 99 9 Fermi resonance - algebraic model for molecular vibrational spectra ∗
A Fermi resonance-algebraic model is proposed for molecular vibrations, where a U(2) algebra is used for describing the vibrations of each bond, and Fermi resonances between stretching and bending modes are taken into account. The model for a bent molecule XY2 and a molecule XY3 is successfully applied to fit the recently observed vibrational spectrum of the water molecule and arsine (AsH3), re...
متن کاملAlgebraic Description of Anharmonic Stretching Vibrations.
A U(2) algebraic model is presented to describe stretching vibrations of XYn (n = 2, 3, and 4) systems, where anharmonic interactions between the bond modes are considered. This model in a limit corresponds to an anharmonically coupled local-mode model. As an example, the model for a molecule XY4 is applied to recently observed spectra of methane in both gas and liquid phases, and the results o...
